Our story

Shayla and Jeremiah met at the "Christmas Boat" party in the Winter of 2017. Shayla's mom, Stephanie, was friends with Bryan & Kelli, the excellent and gracious hosts of the Boat party and invited Shayla to tag along after a particularly rough stretch of unsuccessful dating. "Will there be any single guys at the party?" Shayla inquired to her mom. "Probably not...but it will be fun!" And fun it was! Jeremiah arrived at the party with his best man, Adam, and Shayla caught his attention right away. He played it cool, though, and made sure to talk to her *just enough* at the party (but not too much).  After walking Shayla back to her car after the party and determining that she was, in fact, as awesome as she seemed, he asked their mutual friend, Jean, to reach out to see if he could get her number to ask her out. Flattered, of course Shayla said Jean could give Jeremiah her number.  They went on their first date on December 22nd to the Paella Bistro in Poulsbo and bonded over martinis and a mutual love of Excel spreadsheets and hard work. Both of them knew right away that they had found someone very special. Jeremiah told her "I love you" within the first week (we must note this was against the advice of "counsel," i.e., Adam, the best man)! Shayla was slower to acknowledge out loud what she had felt all along - that they were pretty perfect for each other. When they traveled to Scotland together in the Fall of 2018, they knew that if they could get through hiking huge mountains in the pouring rain, peeing in the woods and navigating a foreign country together, then they could handle whatever else life threw at them.
