FAQs

If you have any other questions outside of what we've listed here, please contact our wedding planner Katie Dawson at Katie@1710hospitality.com
Question

What is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP by September 1. You can either mail your RSVP card to us or RSVP online on this website.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Our wedding and reception are strictly RSVP only. We are only able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation. We have reserved a seat in your honor and look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is formal. Think floor-length gowns, suits and ties or a tuxedo. For the ladies, please bring comfortable shoes, or a pair of flats to change into later in the evening, and you may want a shawl as the ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. Please arrive no later than 3:50 pm so that you can be seated before the ceremony starts. Late comers will not be seated during the ceremony.

Question

Are kids invited to the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Children outside of those in the wedding party are not invited to the ceremony or reception.

Question

Do you have a room block at any area hotels?

Answer

Yes! We have a room block at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Durham University Medical Center under the phrase "Shayla Chris Wedding". We also have access to a special wedding rate at The Durham Hotel. Please find more details on our Travel page.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Transportation will not be provided from the hotels to the ceremony, but there is free parking at our venue. If you plan to use a rideshare service, please book your pick up in advance as it is difficult to book a rideshare in the evenings from our venue.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes, both areas of the venue are accessible.

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

We are so excited that our wedding will happen right at the peak of North Carolina's beautiful autumn season (hopefully! sometimes NC can have a very late summer). If all goes according to plan, you can expect mild and cool weather with highs in the high 60s and lows in the mid-40s. Please bring a jacket or scarf/shawl as the temperature drops in the evening.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please let us know in the "leave a note" section of your online RSVP if there is a food allergy in your party, or on the RSVP card in the designated dietary restrictions section. We will do our best to accommodate with our catering team.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! Please check out our Honeyfund honeymoon registry where you can help us cover the cost of our trip to St. Vincent, or contribute to different experiences while we're away like massages and candlelight dinners. You'll find all the information under the Registry tab on this website.
