With Shay's birthday being during Thanksgiving break, Kiran invited her and her family to spend the holiday in Los Angeles with his family. Shay was able to fly out the weekend before Thanksgiving, and Kiran wanted to treat her to a pre-birthday lunch. He said that he was planning a fun Sunday in the city, and Shay was just excited to get outdoors after a busy week in the hospital. He surprised Shay with a boat ride in Marina Del Ray, and the boat was well disguised with birthday decorations. Shay had no idea what she was getting into, but Kiran had it all planned months prior. The staff was all ready for Kiran's big move, and one of the crew members on the boat was actually the photographer! The captain slyly stopped the boat for the couple to search for dolphins, and as Shay was looking out at sea, Kiran got down on one knee. It was the most magical surprise, and Shay truly had no idea! The surprises only continued as Shay's entire family was already at Kiran's house waiting for them to come home for a beautiful dinner celebration! The Vellankis and Konerus spent the most wonderful Thanksgiving holiday together celebrating the engagement all week long.
