They were just two Penn Staters completing their degrees when they ran into each other in downtown State College at Bar Bleu. From there, they took different paths. Shawn continued his education at Penn State Wilkes Barre. Grace graduated from main campus in Spring 2016 and continued her education to pursue a Masters degree at her parents' alma mater, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. After discovering Grace returned to Pennsylvania, Shawn reconnected with Grace and asked her to dinner in Bloomsburg. Little did he know she and her first cat, Rocky, would steal his heart! They learned more about what they had in common- they were born in the same hospital in Scranton, PA only a few years apart. They also found out that Shawn's grandfather, Henry, sold his deli to Grace's Uncle Kent years ago. They have always appreciated how their families share the same hometown of Scranton, PA. Shawn and Grace continued to date for the next 2 years. Upon graduating with his Electrical Engineering degree and her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology, Shawn and Grace took a leap of faith and moved to small town Southern Pines, North Carolina. In February 2019, Shawn planned a beautiful proposal in the gardens of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. They currently reside near Pinehurst, NC and are looking forward to returning to Happy Valley to get married!
