Kuya has played an outsized role in Emily’s life,as well as Shawn’s. To Emily, Kuya is more than just a big brother, he was also a mentor. He was always her rock when she needed it; he was always there for her when she was down. Like when Emily was buying her first car, he walked her through all the steps from saving to purchasing to owning it – and he had the fun job of dealing with the used car salesman. For Shawn, Kuya is the epitome of the American dream and the kind of person that everyone should strive to become. He’s a first generation American who went to college, then graduate school, and started his own business. Above all, Kuya is a great person, brother, friend, husband, and most important, pop pop. We couldn’t have thought of anyone else more fitting to be our officiant.
