On June 1, 2019 Shawnee and I were both guests at a 70's party given by a close friend in Waldorf Maryland. I was sitting at an adjacent table of this wonderful sister who was fanning herself as it was very hot in the venue. I didn't want to be a third wheel at my table so I moved over to her table and sat beside her. Having small talk, turned into a great conversation. I made my way to the dance floor, returning pouring with sweat. Shawnee began to share her fan with me at that point the conversation turned spiritual. However, Shawnee needed to leave the party because she had just met an inactive sister she was picking up for her first meeting in the morning. She also needed to prepare a dish for hospitality with the speaker and his family. In addition, she also had to shop for ingredients to prepare a dish for her SMPW family day gathering the following day. With so many tasks to do, I was curious to know, how her plans would turn out. So I asked her for her number, putting my number in her phone and dialing myself. She texted me the next day and said "the sister enjoyed the meeting, the meal with the speaker and his family was great, and SMPW family day was awesome." We kept in touch ever since, and officially began dating January 3, 2020. Follow us as our story continue
We are excited as our wedding day draws near. We look forward to all of our friends and family sharing in our day. You will receive the Zoom invite login information a few days prior to our date. If you are unfamiliar with the app "Zoom" that we are using to stream our wedding, please reach out Katina Roberts or Tara Hammond. We also ask that our ID and password for our zoom wedding not be posted on social media or forwarded. Although many others can join us, we want only our friends and family that we know and invited to be the ones attending our special day! Love, Ken & Shawnee
It was challenging trying to surprise Shawnee, so I enlist some help. Tina, Kendra, and Kennedy came to the rescue. First of all, it was a delay because the ring was a custom and COVID -19 was a factor. Nonetheless, the adjusted day was happening. I planned for us to be out while the crew was setting it all up. I was a task communicating with them while Shawnee is right beside me. While Shawnee was in David's Bridal trying to yes to the dress, face-timing Tina. I was also, on the phone giving Tina updates of our estimated time of arrival to where the engagement was going to happen. Of course, Tina couldn't answer the phone because she will see the surprise. So Tina had to run blocks away to answer Shawnee's face time call. Finally, they were able to yes to the dress. Now we were in the car en route to the proposed location. All the while, Tina and Kendra were distracting Shawnee on the phone. Prior to arriving at the house, everybody assumes their positions even momma Logan. The photographer in the closet, lol. We headed down the stairs and she saw the candles and rose petals lining the stairs and she froze. Encouraging her to continue coming she began crying. The collage of pictures of us, our memories were hanging on the wall. Embracing the setup just overwhelm her and she cried harder. I got on one knee and I proposed ,asking "will you do me the honor of being my wife?" and she said yes!! Follow us as our story continues.......
