Take a walk on the boardwalk and enjoy the view. Great place to get some exercise and/or have a meal on the lake.
This is the street that Burlington is known for. Lots of shopping, restaurants, bars, music and people-watching.
You can walk or drive up and down Pine Street and taste-test all our local craft beers. We recommend Zero Gravity, Switchback and Burlington Beer Company. The area is also home to a huge festival called the South End Art Hop on September 9-11.
This is a full-day excursion and worth it! American folk art. French Impressionist paintings. Historic New England architecture. Duck decoys, circus animals, and dolls. These were just some of the some of the interests of Shelburne Museum founder Electra Havemeyer Webb.
Sure, the baby farm animals are cute and all, but we like this place for the historic inn on the lakeshore. Ask if you can look around and enjoy the grounds. Don't miss the cheddar cheese. Don once took a class here and made his own!
This peak is very accessible, you can even drive up if you don't want to hike. The view of Lake Champlain from the top is Instagram gold. If it's a clear day and you're in the vicinity, give it a shot!
Consistently the best place to get ice cream on Rt. 7. They make everything in-house and sell their cookies (and dough) at all the local grocery stores. You will not be disappointed.
Another easy hike where you walk along a winding waterfall and end up with a view overlooking a mountain lake. We suggest bringing a picnic and having a very lazy day in the woods.
This joint is a bit far from Burlington, but if you're in the Middlebury area, A&W is a real summer treat — especially if you're never been served food in your car by a rollerskating server. Don & Shawn make a pilgrimage at least once each summer.
If you're traveling from New York state into Vermont via Rt 9N, be sure to cross the Lake Champlain Bridge from Crown Point. Don's great grandfather was a blacksmith who helped build the original bridge (demolished in 2009) and Don's dad used to fish in this bay as a youngster. Lots of Eggert-Winters history in Addison County, VT.
