The year was 2015. Our mutual friend, Jessie, was throwing a surprise party for two of our other mutual friends, Alex and Liz. At the time, they lived in a huge apartment in Baraboo so that's where the party was taking place. Shawn showed up to the party with a snack to pass - a box of Thin Mints. Little did he know, those were Tanya's favorites. The night went on and they talked a bit here and there. After a night out partying, 20ish people crashed at Jessie and Alex's apartment, because in your 20s, waking up from sleeping on the floor doesn't hurt as much as it does in your 30s. The next morning, Tanya helped Jessie start to clean up when they noticed the box of Thin Mints that Shawn had brought, were not opened. Tanya proceeded to sneak the box into her bag when Shawn caught her in the hallway. The only words she could say were "I'm taking these." And to that, Shawn said "Hah, ok." And from there, the rest is history. Their love story began and has led us here.

Fast forward to 2020. It was October, and Tanya and Shawn were planning a camping trip to Door County for Tanya's big 3-0 birthday. On the day of her birthday, they woke up like any other camping morning - made some breakfast and got ready to hit the hiking trails. The trails had some amazing views. The end of one of the trails took you through a forest by the bay and it was beautiful. Then, Tanya realized the sole of her boot was flopping around. Little did she know that at that exact moment, Shawn was planning to propose. But, the whole hiking boot debacle threw a wrench in that. They finished the trail and began to head back to their campsite. On the way, there was a great lookout spot with a killer view. Tanya went to take a photo and once she turned back around she saw Shawn on one knee. "Tanya Lynn, will you marry me?" is what Shawn asked but Tanya blacked out a bit and didn't hear that. Her response was "What is happening?!" She began to cry and of course, said yes!
