Things To Do

Nakalele Blowhole

Nakalele Blowhole

Wailuku, HI 96793

This is where Sunee proposed! This natural blowhole spouts up to 100 feet in the air—the view from the hilltop is impressive enough, but a hike down a rocky trail will let you get up close and personal. Approaching from the island’s west side is a lot easier than the drive from the east, and you may find the descent down to the geyser challenging. Wear appropriate footwear, as the area can be slippery and dangerous, and time your visit during high tide when the water spouts are at their most impressive. While you’re there, don’t miss checking out the Nakalele Point lighthouse, a short walk away.

Mama's Fish House

Mama's Fish House

799 Poho Place, Paia, HI 96779

Mama's fish house is located within a mile of where the wedding will take place, and is a favorite restaurant for anyone visiting Maui. It it right on the beach and offers amazing views and a fantastic menu with fresh fish brought in daily. We highly recommend making reservations if you choose to visit Mama's during your stay.

Black Rock

Black Rock

Lahaina, HI 96761

If you have time to visit Kaanapali beach, we highly recommend that you do. The waters are generally calm enough to snorkel, and we almost always spot a turtle or two around the rocks. The sunsets from Kaanapali Beach and Black Rock are amazing. While there are many places in Maui to watch a sunset, Black Rock is one of our favorites. It is located right in front of the Sheraton on Kaanapali Beach, there’s a daily torch lighting and cliff diving ceremony a few minutes before sunset.

Nuka Sushi

Nuka Sushi

780 Haiku Road, Haiku-Pauwela, HI 96708

Nuka is a sushi restaurant that was recommended to us by several locals, and is by far our favorite sushi restaurant on Maui. It is small and intimate, and located in Haiku which is about a 10 minute drive from Paia. This restaurant does not take reservations, so if you decide to go we recommend getting there early.

Road to Hana

Road to Hana

Paia, HI 96790

The road to Hana is a must if you are visiting Maui for your first time, and if you don't get car sick. It is a winding road that starts right after Paia that takes you through waterfalls, hikes, gorgeous ocean views, natural pools, and bamboo forests. This excursion usually takes 2-3 hours each way depending on how many stops you make along the way. If you are up for it, there is an amazing hike a few miles past Hana (The Bamboo Forest on Maui's Pipiwai Trail). If you have time for a full day adventure, this one is fantastic.
