As most people know, we met online. I, Mackenzie, was living in Eau Claire at the time and Shawn was living in Onalaska. When we first started talking I knew I recognized Shawn from somewhere but did not know where from at the time. We were talking about him coming to Eau Claire some time to hangout when he told me his sister, Rayne, went to school at the University in Eau Claire. When he mentioned that I knew exactly who he was and asked him what his last name was! When he responded with Berg I told him that I knew his family! At that time he did not know he knew my family as well, but he did! After a month or so I asked him if he knew who my mom was and he said he did not, so I messaged him a photo of us together and all I got back was "shut up!". Our families have known each other for quite some time! With a 5 year age gap we were never in school together and knew little of each other before meeting. After 1,653 days, or 4 years 6 months and 8 days, Shawn FINALLY proposed! Now, just 2,169 days, or 5 years 11 months and 7 days, later we are FINALLY getting married! We never imagined we would meet and fall in love, start a family, and get married, but here we are! We have been through a lot together and are looking forward to what our future holds as a married couple!

Of course, in true Shawn fashion, he proposed at Disney World! We have taken many trips to Disney, but this one sure was special! If I am being completely honest, I was slightly annoyed and very ready to go to our next ride, but I was being told to wait instead. Shawn surprised me with a photoshoot and it was during that photoshoot that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! My response was, of course "yes", but also, "about damn time"! I want to say that I was surprised but, Shawn wasn't so secretive about resizing the ring and I knew it was coming! None the less, it was a very exciting day! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with everyone! See you in May!
