The Wedding Website of Shawn Conner and Corbin Tips
Question

What will the weather be like in February?

Answer

New Orleans is typically mild in February. Temps range from the 60's in the day to the 50's at night. The wedding will be in a church, and the reception will be outside in an enclosed and tented courtyard. There can be occasional showers in the afternoon so you may want to bring a light rain jacket if you'll be out and about during the day.

Question

Are my children invited?

Answer

While we love all of your children, we have decided to make our wedding weekend an adults only event. If you are traveling to New Orleans with young children and need babysitters during the weekend, please reach out!

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and reception is black tie - tuxedos for men and formal gowns for women. Note for women: stiletto heels are not recommended for walking around the French Quarter.

Question

How should I get to the wedding venue?

Answer

Parking in the French Quarter is difficult so we recommend walking if you are staying close by or taking an Uber. If traveling by car/Uber please give yourself plenty of time. There will be increased wait times and traffic in the Quarter, especially in the evenings. The wedding ceremony and reception are at the same location. If the weather is nice we will second line around the French Quarter (dance in the street) after the ceremony and return to the Convent for the reception.

Question

What is a second line?

Answer

Second-lines are a popular tradition among New Orleans weddings. It signifies the beginning of a new life together. Usually, the second line brings the wedding guests and bridal party from the ceremony to the reception. The newlyweds lead the procession, umbrellas in hand, while the wedding party and guests follow the band with handkerchiefs. There are two parts to a second line. The first line is made up of the grand marshal or parade leader, the brass band, and whoever is being honored. In a wedding, the bride, groom and wedding party take a position up front. The revelers who fall in behind are referred to as the second line. The leaders of the parade carry decorated umbrellas, while the other participants shake handkerchiefs while they dance.
