In Back to the Future II, Marty McFly goes back to the future on the date of 10-21-2015 -- the same day a fine, young man named Clay Brown was to celebrate his 29th birthday. A mutual friend of both Shawn and Bryce and never one to do things half-heartedly, Clay had been anticipating this celebration since he was a boy. He transformed each room of his SF apartment into a different vignette from the trilogy. His bed transformed into a DeLorean with rope lights and a cardboard cockpit. A corner of the dining room became a photo op for guests to ride a hoverboard. The fireplace and chimney became the ill-fated clocktower. At the end of the night, after cutting a rug at the Under the Sea Dance in Clay's living room, they exchanged numbers knowing there was a spark between them. But about a month after they had met, Shawn (ever the adventurous soul) traveled to South America on a three-month journey. While she was away she kept in touch and sent photos of some of the world wonders she encountered, and despite a Peruvian postal service strike, she even shipped him a few bags of Incan cornuts, which she knew he liked. Upon her return to the States, Bryce asked if he could come over to see her before she jetted off again to meet her cousin in Colorado for a ski trip. He brought a basket of strawberries (her favorite) and a bottle of champagne to celebrate her safe return. That's when they officially say they started going steady. Little did Clay Brown know that he had set the stage for his friends to meet and fall in love, however Bryce and Shawn know that there is no one more perfect for the job of marrying them. Clay will be officiating the ceremony in Beach Haven next September, and by our calculations, before the night is over you can bet your gigawatts you'll know why.
One fine St Patty's Day Eve, Shawn and Bryce spent the day with their Australian friend Michael Henry visiting some of the classic San Francisco tourist spots. After meeting at Vesuvio and a quick stop at City Lights Books, they walked through North Beach, rode a Cable Car, went to the Cable Car Museum, and cruised by Aquatic Park to Ghirardelli Square. They enjoyed an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista Café and, per Michael Henry's request were off to someplace where they could watch the sunset. Bryce suggested Twin Peaks, which despite having lived in San Francisco for many years, Shawn had not visited prior to meeting the dashing Mr. Pinkos, and was the site of one of their first dates. They dressed up Juno in her winter jacket, donned their ever-necessary San Francisco layers, and headed up to the windy peak with just enough time to grab a spot for the sunset. After a quick lap around the peak with Michael, Juno came running over to Shawn and Bryce, with a small package tucked into her jacket pocket. With some light encouragement Bryce convinced Shawn to open the box and see what was inside. Before she knew what was happening Bryce had asked to marry her, and after asking more than once if he was kidding, she enthusiastically agreed! They headed back down the hill to Bryce's old apartment on Haight Street where their nearest and dearest friends had come together for a surprise congratulatory celebration.
Beach Haven has been a part of Shawn's life since the very beginning. It has always been a no frills place where you spend time with the people you love. During the day the beach is the place to be: swim, surf, sleep. At night we share dinners on decks, stargaze, and make unforgettable memories with friends and family. It's a simple, bike-able, funny slice of paradise, which is exactly why we want to share it with you.
