How every other couple meets in this modern age...online! Except this was the only way to meet new people during early COVID times, which is when we met. We talked for 2 weeks before we planned our first date for Sunday brunch. However, Saturday night was upon us, and Shawn was with her "safe" circle of friends having dinner & drinks at a friend's house, and Amon was rebelling against COVID precautions and out at the bars. The drinks were flowing, and we were texting through the evening. At one point, Amon said "we should get our friends together," but Shawn's friends were not going to be cool with strangers coming over - none of us had ventured out to a bar yet since the pandemic started. This is laughable now, but these were the times! However, Shawn had just enough drinks in her to then suggest "how about I come meet up with you?" So she did...Amon and his friends were at this hookah bar in Houston, and she'll never forget that scene as this was her first bar to go to since the pandemic started. It was disgustingly crowded 😆, but thankfully, Amon and his friends reserved a private table. Amon and Shawn sat at the table and chatted the night away until it was time to go home. We stayed up late at his place listening to mostly classic rock music videos and jamming out. Needless to say, we never made it to our brunch date, but we had brunch delivered from Max's Wine Dive and walked over to HEB to grab champagne. We ate home brunch, and Shawn made Amon watch Eurovision. We hung out all day...and the rest is history! Amon swears that if we would of had a proper first date, we would have fizzled after that because he sucks at first dates (apparently). We finally had a date (Dec. 2023) at the place we never made it to.

So you might be wondering what's the deal with the ski theme even though we are getting married in Texas. First of all, the Texas Hill Country is a special place to us so we wanted to have our wedding there. Furthermore, skiing is a hobby we both really enjoy and have been on many ski trips together since we met. Amon also popped the question at the top of Purgatory ski resort! Lastly, if you know Shawn, she loves themed parties and couldn't resist having a ski-themed wedding to celebrate their shared passion. As much as Shawn loves to dress in costume, the suggested dress code is dressy casual / semi-formal, but you do you ;).
