Second lining has been called "the quintessential New Orleans art form.” As it is a celebration, second-lines are a popular tradition among New Orleans weddings. It signifies the beginning of a new life together. Usually, the second line brings the wedding guests and bridal party from the ceremony to the reception. The newlyweds lead the procession, umbrellas in hand, while the wedding party and guests follow the band with handkerchiefs.

The Garden District, or ‘Lafayette City’, as it was once known, is just a short streetcar ride from the French Quarter, but it feels like a world apart. Excluded from early 19th Century Creole society, newly arrived Yankees got to work creating their own city. The result is one of New Orleans’s most desired neighborhoods and one of the nation’s most beautifully preserved city districts and it’s home to the rich, the famous, the strange, and the dead! Join us as we stroll the leafy, magnolia-shaded streets of the Garden District and a city of the dead, Lafayette Cemetery #1. This walking tour is not just mansions and manicured gardens, but stories of legends, tragedy, epidemics, lost causes, movie stars, celebrity chefs, and haunted spirits.
8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

It’s around midnight in the Marigny. Neon blinks, a trombone slides and a crowd gathers for another impromptu curbside concert on Frenchmen Street. Frenchmen -- crowded, buzzing and vibrant -- might just be the most consistently musical stretch of asphalt in New Orleans. With one trip around the clubs on Frenchmen, you are likely to hear all kinds of music, as it is what the street is known for. It’s not the first place most visitors know to go to, but inside the clubs like Snug Harbor, the Spotted Cat, d.b.a , Blue Nile and even outside on the street, you’ll hear some of the best live music produced anywhere in the world. Grab some friends and dance the night away on this bumping thoroughfare.
