He was different. A breath of fresh air. Shaun was attentive, handsome, intellectual and hilarious. She was different. Everything changed in an instant. It was a lazy Saturday. Shaun made secret plans for an intimate brunch for two in Portland, ME. Pauline had previously scheduled plans and was having brunch with her mentee. As soon as brunch ended, her mother called to ask for a favor. Pauline agreed to drive to Woburn, to help her parents. Before hopping on I-93, she called her accomplice to ride along for company. His plans were foiled. Shaun had no idea what the day had in store for them, or did he? Shaun had the ring for months and went back and forth about the “how?” and “when?” to propose. He thought to himself, “today could have been the perfect day.” Just in case, Shaun placed the engagement ring in his backpack. After completing the errand, Shaun and Pauline considered going on an adventure. They surfed the internet for an interesting location. Shaun suggested the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum but made no mention of the “Two Big Black Hearts” sculpture. This was THE perfect place for a proposal. Pauline spied the black hearts upon their arrival. This was the perfect location for a photo shoot, she thought. There were several amazing exhibits at deCordova. Pauline was determined to get back to the hearts. After completing the museum tour, the couple headed over to the “Two Big Black Hearts” sculpture. Like a giddy little girl, Pauline ran to the hearts. Shaun followed behind closely, taking out his phone in order to press record. As Pauline turned around for the first photo, Shaun was ready, on his knee... P: What are you doing!!! What are you doing!!! S: I’m asking you to marry me, Ms. Pauline Lugira. Would you marry me? P: (screams) Yessssss!!!!!! Shaun thought to himself, “today was the perfect day.” Pauline agrees.
