Lydia and Shaun met in optometry school at The Ohio State University. What started out as classmate acquaintances quickly grew into a close friendship. Before long, Lydia and Shaun were seeing each other daily, whether it was studying together in the library, going on long(ish) runs to Goodale Park, or somehow always finding themselves deep in conversation when they were out with friends. Eventually it seemed clear that the two had a connection more than just friendship.
Naturally, dating a best friend turned out to be something easy. The couple spent the remainder of optometry school exploring all the best Columbus restaurants, taking full advantage of OSU student football tickets, training for and somehow completing a half marathon, hosting lots of fun friends, and even using (some of) their student loan money to travel together. When the world shut down in 2020, Shaun and Lydia moved in with Lydia’s parents, for what should have been “a few weeks.” After spending several months all living under the same roof, along with a new, very stubborn, 8 week old puppy, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Shaun was “the one.”
When Shaun, Lydia, and Henle moved up to Rochester, Shaun got to work, picking out the perfect ring. When the trio went hiking in the Adirondacks, he knew it would be the perfect trip to “pop the question.” (What he did not anticipate was Henle pulling him halfway down the mountain and even eating the ring box). Nevertheless, it was a perfect weekend. We are so thankful to have found each other, and that our friendship turned into something so special. We are so incredibly thankful to all of our friends and family for coming to celebrate with us on our special day, and we cannot wait to be married!
