No trip to the Jersey Shore is complete without some beach time! We are super grateful to have spent the last 8 years living this close to the ocean! Surfing, fishing, biking, shelling, running, and even cross-country skiing - we spend as much time as we can here!
Delicious vegan and organic food & smoothie bar on Main St open for breakfast & lunch. They have grab-and-go meals & awesome bakery sweets!
Our favorite bar - great food, great drinks, great bartenders - and the best place to watch soccer in Jersey! Possible after-party location???
A free pizza with every drink - doesnt get much better than that! We love this bar! The walls & furniture are covered in random facts, quotes and funky decor; AND they have skee ball machines! Be sure to check the pot belly stove near the front bar for free candy!!!
Asbury Park is approx 2 miles north of Avon-by-the-Sea and is full of cool restaurants, bars, shops & incredible street art. Check out the Skate Park in the old Carousel building, the classic pinball & arcade games at the Silverball Museum, and Convention Hall. For all our Springsteen fans, dont miss the iconic Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, and Madam Marie's Temple of Knowledge!
Cookman Ave in Asbury Park is full of great places to eat, drink, shop & explore. Check out the art galleries, coffee shops, vintage collectibles, antique mall, boutiques, and unique places like Catsbury Park Tea House, where you can have a cup of tea & play with adoptable kitties! Hungry? Try Mogo Korean Fusion Tacos (they have a spot on the boardwalk too), Brickwall Tavern, or Speakeatery. Craving something sweet? Try Cookman Creamery for vegan ice cream or Confections of a Rockstar for delicious gourmet cupcakes. Thirsty? Try Bond Street Bar, which is connected to 2 other bar/restaurants and game hall with pool & ping pong tables through a "secret" door. The Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten is an excellent place for a gigantic mug of beer, huge Bavarian pretzels and authentic bratwurst (Ashleigh loves all the plants on the rooftop bar!)
Belmar is another great beach town on the south side of Avon-by-the-Sea filled with restaurants, bars and one-of-a-kind shops. Rent a stand-up paddle board to take out on the bay or schedule a fishing trip on one of the many party boats based out of the Marina. 10th Ave Burrito, Anchor Tavern, Surf Taco, and Kaya's Kitchen are some of our favorite spots to eat downtown. Marina Grill and Klein's Fish Market & Waterside Cafe are right on the water on the bay side of Belmar and Shark River Inlet. If your into craft beer, check out Beach Haus Brewery on Main St. If your looking for a nightclub, visit Bar A, a famous Jersey Shore bar complete with 3 volleyball courts and the huge outdoor Grotto Beach on 16th Ave or the Headliner on the north side of the Shark River Bridge.
98 Pennsylvania Ave in Ocean Grove was the first place we lived when we moved to the Jersey Shore. It is a tiny town (about 1 square mile!) between Bradley Beach and Asbury Park, and its filled with beautiful & unique brightly colored historic Victorian homes. The town itself on the National Registry of Historic Places and is most well known for the Grand Auditorium, home to one of the largest pipe organs in the world, and surrounded by over 100 seasonal homes known as 'Tent City'. They remove the tent portion of the structures after Labor Day, but its still worth a walk around the town to see! Main St has a bunch of cute boutiques, galleries, and cafes. Nagles and Days are both excellent spots for ice cream. FYI: Its a dry town, but most restaurants are BYOB. Fun facts on about the OG: you couldnt drive a car in Ocean Grove on Sundays until 1981 & you still cant get on the beach until noon on Sundays during the summer season!
