Shauna and I met as a result of intention and serendipity. I had been living in the Flux apartments in Uptown for about a month. I noticed Shauna for the first time after being at her apartment briefly with others pregaming before heading to the bar. I thought she was cute, but didn't get the chance to speak to her before leaving. For the next week or two I hoped in the back of my head that we would cross paths again. Sure enough, shortly after our first encounter, a friend of mine was hanging out with Shauna and other girl friends in Shauna's apartment. On this Friday evening my roommate, Harrison, and I also happened to have a few friends over. Shauna's friend Sophie ended up texting me saying she was at a friends in Flux and that we should join them to pregame before heading to the bars. The boys and I rounded up a few adult beverages and headed upstairs to Shauna's apartment. And the rest is history! We have been together ever since!

After a year of quarantining, Garrett and I decided it was only right to kick off 2021 with a vacation! We planned a trip to Sedona and Scottsdale right after New Years, filled with lots of hikes, relaxation, and spa time. Before we left my friends and coworkers were convinced that he was going to propose. I however, was unsure. He had just came off of his busy season at work, and I didn't think he had time to plan anything, little did I know, I was wrong. Only time in our relationship that I will admit to being wrong ;) On our last full day in Sedona we went on a hike to Devil's Bridge. The hike was gorgeous and we talked all the way to the "bridge". Once we got there the line was long and it was chilly! We were so high up and I was so nervous to walk out there. All kinds of crazy thoughts were dancing around in my head as I was trying to convince Garrett we didn't need to walk out there and the view was good enough from where we were standing. Having other plans, he said no, and thank goodness he convinced me otherwise! We got out there to get our picture taken and next thing I know he is down on one knee, and so was I! He asked me if I would conquer my fears with him for the rest of my life and I said YES! We hiked back to the car sharing a bottle of wine to get back to the hotel and FaceTime all our loved ones! It was perfect. The rest of the trip we were able to celebrate our engagement and soak up every second.
