Sharyn was going to Iceland in search of adventure, Magnús was going to Keflavik airport in search of Dave. Sharyn had spent about 3 hours on a New York layover chatting with Dave and decided, upon seeing the pair meet at the destination, to grab their contact information due to traveling solo in a new country. After spending 10 days nannying a French-Icelandic 2 year old Sharyn decided to see a little more of the country. She reached out to the boys to see if they could help her find cheap accommodation in Reykjavik (lol). The rest of her time in Iceland was spent with the band of nerds, that's as true now as it was then. 7 years and another fateful layover later, Sharyn and Magnús went on their first date. Sharyn deemed it the absolute best first date she had ever been on, though the natural beauty of the iconic Icelandic waterfalls probably played a part in that.
On New Year's Eve we spent the hour leading up to midnight with the curtains drawn comforting our dog Gus from the nonstop fireworks. As it was nearing the countdown Magnús went to get the flutes of champagne. We counted down together and as it hit the hour he asked if I would marry him. Of course. Yes.
