Railton and I met in my church choir. His vibrant, fun loving sister has been my alto-singing friend for many years in my church choir and one day she introduced her handsome little brother to me telling me he just moved here from Brazil. That day our singles group took him out to lunch and his sister asked me if I would drive him home. Twist my arm! We immediately felt very comfortable with each other and during the drive we tried to communicate. He knew very little English and I knew zero portuguese. I asked Mahala to download translators but it didn't help at all because she had no idea what I was asking for. After many failed conversation attempts I thought I would give spanish a try. He said he could understand it so being all excited I blurted out "Aqua! Do you want some Aqua???" (I really don't know Spanish, hence the 'do you want some'...lol) He smiled real big and said yes... We were thrilled at this coming together of the universe and then sat in silence once again. Given that he had just moved here and needed time to get his bearings we didn't go out until about a year later on Easter. We met for karaoke and talked the night away. By the end of the evening we both knew we had something very special and both wanted more of it. That was the first fabulous time of many and we wanted many more so Railton asked my daughter for her permission to ask me to marry him. She said yes and in turn I did too! So we decided to be best friends with a lot of romance forever. We have an instant full family with my daughter, Mahala (17, Junior at Stoney Point high school) and with Railton's son, Jessiel (13, 8th grade). Jessiel is a sweet, handsome young man who's presently living in Brazil. He will be moving here hopefully within a year. We thank Jesus for each other because this could have only happened with his hand in it! We are thankful for His provision in our lives and look forward to seeing what He has in store for us!
