Our StoryOur Story

Sharbik and Lucky began their journey in the great halls of William Fremd High School in Palatine, IL. After talking for a couple of months as friends, Sharbik finally asked Lucky out on Thanksgiving Day in 2015. Their first date was actually a double date at Egg Harbor Cafe! Sharbik finally made it official and asked Lucky to be his girlfriend on January 11, 2016 right in front of his locker in the English hallway. Over the next couple months they went to prom together (which is actually at the same location as their wedding!), saw a ton of sunrises and sunsets at Riemer Reservoir, and were excited to see where the relationship would take them. As high school came to a close, they made a choice to keep dating in college even though Lucky was attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Sharbik was attending the University of Notre Dame. Thus began their long and arduous journey of long distance… Taking greyhound buses from Champaign to South Bend or the South Shore line from South Bend to Champaign. Sharbik and Lucky always made it a priority to visit each other, navigating busy schedules, exams, extracurriculars, and the craziness of college life. Throughout it all, Champaign became a second college home to Sharbik as Notre Dame became the same for Lucky. Lucky became a die hard Notre Dame fan and Sharbik was able to sneak in to the most exclusive establishment in town named The Red Lion. A young love was quickly developing into a multi-year relationship. The couple came at another crossroads as college came to an end. Sharbik was pursuing his master’s degree at Notre Dame and Lucky was moving to Chicago to attend a Doctorate of Audiology program at Northwestern University. While the distance had shortened, Chicago and South Bend were still more than a stone’s throw away. Lucky had moved to the big city and Sharbik was taking advantage of one more year of the Irish. This year flew by and before they knew it, they realized that long distance had a whole new meaning. Lucky had gotten accepted into an externship in Los Angeles just as Sharbik was planning to move to Chicago. Timing had escaped the couple but only for one year. This transition marked a new chapter for Sharbik and Lucky. They were emerging as adults from their college days and took advantage of visiting San Diego, Temecula, San Luis Obispo and much more. Before they knew it, Lucky’s one year in sunny California had come to an end and more importantly, Lucky and Sharbik had finally ended the 7 years of long distance! Since then, they’ve enjoyed spending time with each others’ families, trying out new restaurants in Chicago, and even getting engaged! After seven years of navigating long distances, countless visits, and new adventures, we are thrilled to be in the same city, living out the dream we once imagined during our high school days. Now, as we stand here, celebrating our love and the next chapter of our lives, we are filled with gratitude. Grateful for the time, patience, and support we've received from family and friends along the way. We are so excited to finally be together, and we can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with all of you. Thank you for being part of our story, and for sharing this incredible milestone with us!

For all the days along the way
