How we met (from Sharat)

Richa was 10 min late to our first date. I was thinking of leaving but stayed. She's been 10 min late ever since.

How we met (from Richa, according to Sharat)

I was smitten the first time I met him 10 min late. He was perfect.

Our story

Six years in the making…

After exchanging a few short messages online and an invitation for a lunchtime walk, we met for the first time in Buena Vista Park in San Francisco in May of 2014. Despite his fashion choices that day (a grungy red flannel and croakies on his sunglasses), and her keeping him waiting (she arrived 10 minutes late), we’ve been together ever since! Flash forward to June of 2018. On Sharat’s 30th birthday afternoon he took us back to that same park, popped the question, and we decided to spend our lives together as partners in this adventure of life (and cope with each other’s fashion and timeliness issues…). The past 6+ years have taken us on several adventures already. From living a few neighborhoods apart in SF, to Sharat moving to Boston to start business school, to Richa following to Philly the next year, to living apart on separate coasts again (are you exhausted yet? we were!), -- we’ve navigated the challenges of different time zones, new schools, planning a wedding (and then unplanning it, thanks to COVID!), and too many redeye flights and FaceTimes to count. Despite the distance, we’ve found ways to make a few of our own adventures together -- from hiking coasts in California, scaling glaciers in Alaska, exploring the calles in Cuba, coming a little too close to wild elephants in South Africa, camping next to an active volcano in Ethiopia (sorry, moms!), attending grad school in Boston & Philly, surviving a studio apartment together during quarantine, to relaxing in each other’s hometowns in the Midwest. But officially starting our lives together feels like the biggest, and most exciting, adventure to us yet. We are so excited to see what this next step has in store. And through it all we feel so lucky to have been surrounded by you - our friends and family who mean so much to us. Thank you, for all your love and blessings!

A 2020 Update

With so much thanks and gratitude

We got married on August 1st in Richa’s family home surrounded by our immediate family, with Vandana Aunty (our dear extended family member) as our priest, and our closest friends and family watching over Zoom. We feel deeply grateful that despite the challenges of this year, we were able to get married with our families present and share that moment with all of you - our community of loved ones - virtually. We are immeasurably grateful for all of your love and support, blessings, messages, calls, videos, Facetimes, drive-bys, and more on that weekend and since after -- we feel so lucky. THANK YOU! --- If you'd like to see more from that weekend, click into our photos page!
