We both thought we would never see one another after high school ended, but God had other plans! After one track and field meet in our freshman year of college, an acquaintanceship turned into a friendship. After serving at a summer camp together and surviving a pandemic, things became official on 8/14/2020. David finally got down on one knee on 12/5/2021 and asked the big question, and received an enthusiastic "YES!".

David took Rachel to the Landscape Arboretum on a chilly Sunday afternoon in December. We walked past dozens of beautiful spots to pop the question, but we just kept going. This effectively tricked Rachel into thinking he was not going to pop the question, but turns out he was just a little nervous! David finally got up the courage after about 30 minutes of walking in the middle of a field with no one around... perfect! Afterward, we were both so caught up in the story of the beautiful ring that we got lost... and walked around in the wind and cold for about an hour. It's ok - we made it back safe and sound and we wouldn't have wanted it to happen any other way!
