**Our Love Story** If you ask RJ how we met, he’ll say it was at my house during a bonfire in November 2018. My daughter, Auzia, had invited him and a few co-workers over. Funny thing is, I don’t recall seeing, meeting, or even speaking to him that night—though he insists we did! I guess the timing just wasn’t right for us then. Fast forward to June 2020, when Auzia needed her brakes fixed. She asked if her friend and co-worker (RJ) could come over to take care of it. As he worked on her car, my daughter gave me a nudge and said, “Mom, talk to him—he’s single!” I was single too, but dating wasn’t really on my radar. Still, being the jokester I am, I casually said, “So, when are you going to take me on a date?” To my surprise, RJ didn’t miss a beat and replied, “Whenever you want me to.” I gave him my number, but do you know he didn’t call me right away? I was so mad! I kept thinking, *Who does that?* I even vented to Auzia, who just laughed and said, “Mom, give it time. People don’t want to seem desperate.” But I had already written him off—no time for games! Then, exactly one week later, I got a notification. RJ had sent me a Cash App for breakfast money! I was grinning from ear to ear. Later that day, he finally called, and we set up our first date. When he arrived, he came early, opened the car door for me, and instantly made an impression. I remember thinking, *Is this a gentleman or is he just showing out for the first date?* Our date was perfect, and from that moment on, RJ has continued to show me every day what it means to be loved and cherished. Oh, and to this day, I don’t open any doors when I’m with him—he won’t let me! Now, here we are, ready to begin the next chapter of our love story.
