We met in person for the first time over coffee at Winans at the Greene after a couple of weeks of talking through a dating site called Hinge. I had liked a picture of him rock climbing and another where he looked like a nice, normal person in a wedding photo. When I arrived for our date, I waited in my car to watch him walk into the coffee shop, to make sure the person matched the photo. Once he passed the test, I headed in. Since it was Halloween and Jon had a party later that night, I suggested we meet beforehand. What started as a simple coffee date turned into a walk to the nearby bookstore, where we explored our favorite sections and talked about getting together again. After that, we went on all kinds of dates in different places and really got to know each other. The timing could not have been more surprising, because the pandemic began soon after. Being stuck together actually worked in our favor, giving us plenty of time to learn more about each other. We explored local parks, went running, worked on puzzles, co-worked at the kitchen table, and shared our love of travel. It was a challenging time for everyone, yet it helped build a strong foundation for our relationship. Then we got our first dog, Lucian, in 2021. Two years later, Lola joined us, and about a year after that Rusty found his way into our lives. And from there, everything just seemed to fall into place.
