Scott doesn’t remember it, but they first met in 8th grade during lunch. Crystal and a group of girls approached him to ask whether he liked her friend (ironic, huh?). She remembers him in his band uniform with his clarinet sitting under the table and him looking rather uncomfortable. Little did she know he was going to be her future husband. They didn’t talk again until freshman year of high school. Crystal was hanging out with a group of people that she quickly realized was going to get her in trouble, so she looked for a new group. During lunch, she saw Julian, who she knew from middle school art class, and quickly inserted herself into his group. The group consisted of Julian, Jesus, Aaron, and, of course, Scott. This is when their friendship began. Scott was just a sweet, quiet, and extremely smart friend that Crystal admired. Crystal was a loud, bold, and energetic friend to Scott. For the next three years — from freshman year to junior year — that’s all they were: friends. It was during senior year when they first truly noticed each other as anything other than friends. They became the couple that everyone knew liked each other before they even knew it themselves. Scott would walk Crystal to her 5th period class after lunch and stay with her until the 10-minute bell rang. Then he would rush to class across campus. When Crystal would go to the lunch line to get food, Scott would wait with her even though he packed his lunch. But if you asked them if they liked each other, they would say they were just friends. It was in November 2016 when they made plans to go to the movies without inviting anyone else. Neither one knows exactly why they didn’t invite anyone else, but let’s be honest — they wanted to go on a date alone. It was that night that they admitted they liked each other and began dating. This year, on their wedding day, November 22nd, 2026, it will be their 10-year anniversary. Ten years of trials, growth, and love.
