On a visit to Pape Clément you'll see the recreated chapel below the château, complete with crypt, marble sarcophagus and piped organ music. While you're there, look out for the 1500-year-old olive trees in the garden. Also rare for top châteaux in Bordeaux, you can actually buy the wines here or, better still, spend the afternoon in the Cave de Decouverte, blending with the cellar master, creating your own wine then designing a label for your personalized bottle. The wine is also amazing, in 2009 the Grand Cru Classé received a 100/100 score from Robert Parker. They have been in the high 90’s every year since.
