We met at ADP where we both worked at the time! Each year at the end of the fiscal, the business unit we were involved in had a end of the year party. Vince was playing disc golf, without his shirt on, of course! After our friends Sean and Savin invited everyone back to their house to have pizza and a few drinks. I asked Vince if he was coming, and of course he said "YES!" Once at Sean and Savin's house, we sat down and started a wonderful conversation about life and where it was going to take us (at this point we did not think life was going to take us on a ride together). We remained friends after that day, and we would see each other at work and at work functions. One night, I went out with a group of friends from ADP and invited Vince to come. He never showed. But, the next day he reached out and apologized, letting me know that he had a family emergency and he would like to make it up to me by taking me out for coffee or to lunch. I accepted the apology and we ended up at The BottleShop. We had a few beers, some wings, and watched football. We hung out almost every Saturday after that, trying new restaurants and playing darts. Until January 26, 2019, when Vince and I were at a friend's going away party. Vince asked me that night if I would be his girlfriend and of course I said, "Yes!" We bought a house that October, adopted a puppy in December, adopted another puppy in June, and were engaged in October 2020!
We have a calendar in our kitchen to keep track of all of our events. Written on 10/24 was "DATE NIGHT, no rescheduling". It was definitely a long month for me to anticipate what was all involved on this date night! Once 10/23 rolled around, Vince told me that I need to be ready to leave the house by 11:45 and not a minute later. He told me to dress nice, but not too nice because we will be outside. As I got ready Vince, did his best to clean up the house. He was vacuuming the couches and even wiping down the doors! Vince and I put the pups in their crates and pulled out of the driveway. We headed down to Gaucho Parrilla Argentina restaurant. We had been wanting to try this place so we ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed an excellent meal! I asked if we were going to see a show since I was told to dress nice and we were in downtown Pittsburgh. Vince told me no, but we would be going somewhere outside now. Once we left Gaucho, we ended up at the Pittsburgh Biotechnical Garden. This was a place Vince and I tried to go on a date in the WAY beginning, but because it was raining, the garden was closed. Luckily, on 10/24 it was not raining! Vince walked me all through the gardens telling me how he was just here a few earlier with their dogs and explaining all of the cute things they were doing. Vince and I came up to the pond where there was a little bridge. Vince walked me over the bridge, got down on one knee, said something that we both can't even remember! And I responded with many thank yous, while laughing, and finally saying YES! Vince hired a photographer to be there to capture THE MOMENT! After a few photos and a lot of smiles, we headed home, but not before stopping at the store to pick up a bottle of champagne to celebrate! When arriving home, I was first to open the door, and with a scream, I found my family, Vince's family, and our closest friends to celebrate! We all spent the rest of the night dancing and laughing. It was perfect!
