One day, I picked up a shift on a different unit at work—just a small change in routine that turned out to mean so much more. As my shift was ending, I noticed a tall, dark man who immediately caught my eye. At the time, COVID restrictions were still in place, so everyone was wearing masks. I couldn’t really see his face, but something about him drew me in. Not long after, I found out his name: Ugo. As luck would have it, a friend of mine worked on the same floor as he did. I asked her to casually mention me and see what happened. The very next morning, I woke up to a DM from him, asking if he could take me out on a date.
