What a story to share. Trevor and Shannon met at Viridian, Duncan's local coffee shop, just a few weeks after she arrived in mid-October 2018. Trevor spotted Shannon alone at a table that night. She was studying the Bible and working on miscellaneous projects. Trevor, encouraged by seeing her studying her Bible openly, prayed "God, give me a woman like that" and sat down with no intentions to approach her. Little did they know, God would answer that prayer and then some. They were introduced to each other that night by the owner of the coffee shop, Shay Hayes, but they wouldn't begin dating until 8 months later. Over the course of that time, they built a friendship that eventually developed into a true love they both knew would lead to a life together forever. Trevor would say that he courted Shannon throughout that time of "friendship" and that he chose to love her even before she was ready to date and finally asked him to pursue her. Shannon would agree that Trevor's pursuit was evident, respectful, and allowed her the space to love Jesus and herself more before she was ready to love Trevor. "A man who will deny his selfish desires and respectfully wait for you, while not placing pressure on you to date him, so that you can heal, fall in love with Jesus, and love yourself first is the man you want to marry" she says. Both of them admitted that they weren't each other's "type" from the start, but that they were connected on the one thing that mattered the most to each of them - a love for God and relationship with Him. The two of them would agree that it really is the sweetest thing to get to marry your bestfriend.
