We’re Getting Married!

We met in July 2015 at the Bridge Program on the campus of Alabama A&M University. We were good friends in the beginning. However, somehow that changed almost two years later in 2017 when we both went on co-op. We began to talk to each other more frequently during that time away from school. We made it official on October 16, 2017 when I was back at school and Taylor was still on co-op. It wouldn’t take either of us a long time to know that we were meant to be together forever…

We were supposedly having a summer fish fry with our friends. However, when the day came, people I knew I hadn’t told about the function started to show up. I thought it was strange, but gave Taylor the benefit of the doubt and assumed he just invited people and didn’t let me know. Soon after everyone arrived, we all gathered in the living room to introduce everyone… or so I thought. Taylor began to give a welcome speech and I was going along with it until he said, “….but we all know that’s not the real reason why we’re here today.” I froze for a moment and said, “What do you mean this isn’t the real reason?” After that, he started his speech and I froze in shock that this was actually happening. In that moment, time stood still for me. I honestly don’t remember hearing anything else he said until he got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. There has never been any doubt in my mind about whether or not I would marry Taylor so I said yes without hesitation. It was such a special moment and I am glad that we got to enjoy the moment with both of our families and close friends. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
