In the middle of August 2021, Shannon sat in her car fifteen minutes early, waiting for an acceptable time to enter the New Teacher Orientation at her alma-mater. She was newly home from her year in Madrid, and was about to start her first year of teaching. As she considered going in to the building, she caught a glimpse of a handsome young man on his way in. Excited for the day, she gathered her work, checked in for orientation and looked for her old classmate Nathan Grimm, who she heard would be there. As she scanned the room looking for Nathan, she spotted the cute guy from the parking lot, only to realize that he was Nathan Grimm, the nice boy in the band with whom she went to high school. As she found her seat, Shannon waited for a free moment to say hi to Nathan, though in true Nathan fashion, he continued to find more and more friends. When she finally decided to walk up to him and say hi, his face immediately lit up into a bright smile and he wrapped her in a big hug. When lunch came, Shannon went outside to eat under a beautiful tree, slightly hoping Nathan would have the same idea. Moments later, Nathan saw Shannon, came over, and they immediately began talking about their experiences abroad. Nathan invited Shannon to get ice cream nearby after school. A true gentleman, Nate bought the two ice creams and suggested a walk along the boardwalk where they shared their first date (unbeknownst to Nathan). Later that evening, Nate asked Shannon if she had his number from high school. She scoffed, knowing she definitely did not have his phone number from high school. Nate confidently asked her to check, and much to Shannon's chagrin, she not only had his number but had a five-year-old selfie of the two of them assigned to his contact. Four years later, Nathan and Shannon live in South Carolina with their golden retriever, Hudson. They love each other with their whole hearts and are each other's best friend. They are looking forward to continuing to spend their lives together!
