Shannon and Mike met on the online dating website Ok Cupid. It took at least 2 months for Shannon to respond to Mike's message to connect. Mike's profile said he lived in Hopkins and Shannon used to run Karaoke at a local Hopkins bar and knew what the locals were like which made her hesitant to respond. However, she kept going back to his profile thinking she should respond to him. Then one afternoon, when Shannon was stalking Mike's profile yet again, the words "BEER", "CHEESE", and "TRAVEL" popped out at her and she knew she had to respond as those are 3 of her favorite things. Shannon and Mike met for the first time on October 27th, 2013 at a bar near the University of Minnesota during a Vikings game; needless to say parking was tricky! They enjoyed good conversation and after they hugged Shannon knew that a second date was in order. Their second date was an adventure. Mike's car had broken down and he needed Shannon to pick him up. The weather was bad so she was nervous, however, when she called Mike as she was driving down Nolan drive she felt calm and knew this may be a good thing. They had a fantastic dinner at a Greek restaurant and the rest is history!
