FAQs

The Wedding Website of Shannon Colford and Mike LaValle
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than June 1, 2026. This will enable us to give our vendors an accurate head count and minimize last minute stress.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Our dress code is cocktail attire, leaning on the dressier side. Think colorful knee- or midi-length dresses, or a suit with or without a tie—it’s your choice! The ceremony will be in a church with fans but no air conditioning, cocktail hour will take place outside either under a covered area with fans or out on the lawn, and the reception will be indoors with air conditioning. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are a great idea. Our wedding colors are pink and green; you are more than welcome to wear them, though there is no need to match.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

No. While we would love to include more people, we are making our best effort to keep numbers low by inviting only those addressed by name, or family name, on their invitation.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Children related to the family will be in attendance. At the reception, there will be kid friendly entertainment like yard games, and dancing!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, we have a hotel block at the Holiday Inn in Salem, NH, but there are several hotels within a 20 minute radius of both the church and reception venue.

Question

What does transportation look like?

Answer

We will provide a school bus shuttle from the Holiday Inn in Salem, NH to the church, from the church to the reception, and from the reception back to the hotel. Ride share (Uber, Lyft, etc.) is available in the area, but Derry is smaller and may have fewer drivers than major cities. At 9:00, our bar will stop providing alcohol and switch to soft drinks and water. Our grand exit will be at 9:45. This will provide guests the chance to sober up if they are interested in transporting themselves.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes! We will have an open bar for cocktail hour and reception. It will close for 30 minutes between the two and will switch to nonalcoholic drinks at 9:00pm. Please consider taking the school bus shuttle to and from the Holiday Inn (see Travel page) if you plan to drink.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We understand people may want to capture some moments, but please keep in mind our ceremony is part of a Catholic Mass. You may take photos from your seat, but please limit phone usage. We want to ensure our professional photographer is able to capture everything without interference.

Question

Are the church and the venue accessible?

Answer

Yes, St. Thomas Aquinas has accessible bathrooms on the main floor. Hyla Brook Estate is one floor and had two single stall bathrooms that meet ADA requirements.

Question

Will you have an afterparty?

Answer

While there's no formal afterparty, the celebrating doesn't have to stop! The Holiday Inn Salem has Margaritas restaurant right on-site open until 1am. We'll be heading there after the reception to keep the night going. Come join us!

Question

Can I leave my car overnight at your venue?

Answer

Yes, however you MUST pick it up by 9am. If you do not, we will be charged a $100 fee. If you do not collect your car by noon, it will be towed.
