Both Shannon and Maverick were dedicated to their single lifestyles and decided to stop looking for a relationship. Shannon's sister in law, Ashley, decided to take it upon herself to find the love of Shannon's life by posting in a mom's group of Facebook about Shannon and asking for suggestions on who to set her up with. This post was seen by Maverick's sister, Dayton's, best friend and sent to Dayton. That's when Ashley and Dayton teamed up to introduce their siblings. Maverick and Shannon didn't make it easy on them though and were reluctant to send the first text message. Ashley finally told Shannon "You either text him or I drag you by your hair into his work" which sounded significantly worse. When Maverick received the text, he almost didn't reply and initially said "What did you do?!" to his mom and sister. After a week of non-stop texting, they realized why they had been set up with each other and Maverick asked Shannon on a date on 11/04/2023. He told his family when he went to pick her up "I'm going to be really disappointed if I show up and she's not cute" hahaha But as Ashley and Dayton texted the entire time, watching the progress of the date through Ashley seeing Shannon's location, they grew in excitement the longer Shannon and Maverick spent together. A few days later, Maverick sent Shannon a dozen roses and a thank you card. They met each other's families after a couple of weeks. They quickly continued to grow into each others best friend and became part of each others family. On 07/17/25, Shannon was getting ready to leave on a girls trip with Dayton, Molly, and Wendy. Maverick surprised her at his parents house before leaving for the airport and originally Shannon just assumed he came to say goodbye. He gave her a stuffed dog (she had been asking for a puppy haha) and on the collar was a tag that said "Will you marry me?" and that's when he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
