Shannon was the very first person Josh met as he moved into The Master's University! It only took about 10 months for him to ask her out. And even then, lets just say Josh (and everyone else) knew way before Shannon that this was going to be something special, and he was extremely patient while she figured it out and caught up.
It was Shannon's 25th birthday, in the morning Josh went with her to get her nails done and then sat around of the couch while she did homework for the afternoon. Josh had taken the day off work to spend with Shannon. He made dinner reservations in downtown San Diego. Just a few days before, he suggested that to miss traffic, they should head down early and with the extra time maybe watch the sun set. He played it off so well that Shannon didn't think there was anything suspicious about it. Josh had picked a spot to watch the sunset - the Scripts Nature Preserve in La Jolla. When they parked, Josh hoped out of the car, tucked in his shirt and put on his suit coat. Shannon was still sitting there on Facebook, commenting on how she still had 20 minutes till sunset, she was completely oblivious. Josh finally got her to head toward the cliffs overlooking the water and had to pull her along by the hand as she blabbered on about the real estate. They finally reached an area roped off with a sign saying "authorized personal only" Shannon didn't want to break the rules but Josh insisted it was okay. Just ahead was a small table, with flowers, a wrapped gift, and rose petals covering the ground. Josh told Shannon that he had lied about what he was gifting her for her birthday and that this was her present. She just laughs and opened the gift. It was a new Bible inscribed on it was 'Shannon Joy Delo' and tears started instantly. She finally realized what was going on (it's about time!). Josh got on one knee and proposed! He had been planning this for moths with Shannon's younger sisters who set everything up and were there hiding in the bushes. As Shannon said 'YES' they jumped out along with the photographer! It was exactly how Shannon would have planned if she had to do it herself. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with you in June!
