Shannon and Joe grew up only one town apart along the Connecticut shoreline, yet they never crossed paths until 2021, when they matched on a dating app. Shannon had recently moved to her hometown to continue her studies, and Joe had just graduated from law school and started his career as an attorney. Their first date at Water’s Edge in Westbrook was effortless and full of laughter. From that weekend on, they were inseparable. Over the past four years, Joe has introduced Shannon to rock concerts and bar trivia, while Shannon has shared her love of skiing and boating with Joe. Together, they’ve traveled, explored New York City’s best restaurants, spent winters on the slopes, and summers on the water. On April 19, 2025, during a Florida sunset on their favorite beach in Marco Island, Joe proposed with white roses, champagne, and (of course) a charcuterie board waiting. Since then, they’ve made a home together in Old Saybrook, where they enjoy walks by the water, visits to local bakeries and farmers’ markets, and nights spent cooking together. Mystic is a special place for both of us, and its coastal charm, historic seaport, local farms, and incredible restaurants capture everything we love about living here.
