Gavin Higgins
Wing Man, Brother, Best Friend
Gavin is 7 years younger than I am. When our mom told us she was pregnant, I was so ecstatic at the possibility of finally having a sister. After my mom delivered Gavin, my dad visited me at lunch in 1st grade and crunched his massive 6'2 body in an elementary student lunch chair across from me and we had lunch together. This had never never happened before. I guess they anticipated I would take the news of him being a boy pretty hard. That was correct. I began sobbing and asked if they could take him back. However, that major disappointment disappeared the very moment I saw him. My favorite part of my relationship with Gavin is we can go from belly laughing, to being 100% vulnerable to solving the world's problems. We have the best synergy and I am so honored to have him walk me to Jon.
Aidan McFadden
Groomsman
Aidan is my first born son. He is a born leader and has been known to be the soccer whisperer on the pitch. At the age of 18 soon to be 19, he is wrapping up his Freshman year at UTD and strongly considering pursuing Law. Aidan really does take after his namesake, my late brother Sean. He has such a free spirit and truly beats his own drum. Aidan has never been influenced by others in finding his true self. He is such a gentle soul and watching him on the soccer pitch has been my proudest moments besides just hugging him and loving him. Aidan will always show the most unwavering sportsmanship even when the rest of the team is salty. He can completely turn the attitudes around and get everyone to focus on the game and play with pure athletic prowess. Aidan emulates this as a person.
Declan McFadden
Groomsman
Declan is my youngest son. Declan is a whitty guy and the banter is fantastic when you get him going. What he does not want are his gaming friends to know is that he is truly an outdoorsman. I must say, its fun to eavesdrop, I mean listen in, on his conversations with his friends. They all will not only play competitively but also I hear a lot of team work and actually supportive encouragement for challenges anyone of them may have. Declan admires his uncle "Shag" (Gavin) and has wanted to learn about how things work around the ranch by his side. Now Jon is his mentor and they have a fabulous partnership that I am loving to watch and greatly looking forward to see how it only continues to grow. He looks forward to joining the Army after high school.
Clyde Hailey
Officiant
We are blessed to have Jon's father officiate the wedding. Clyde and his wife Pat have been married for over 60 years and provide an everlasting example of love, compassion and commitment for couples and families. Jon is the quintessential middle child with two brothers, Kevin the older and Patrick the younger. The Hailey clan is joyful to join the Higgins clan and Shannon and I could think of no better person to join us together than dad.
Brendan Higgins
Usher
Brendan is my oldest brother and will be the usher and our filmmaker. He is a man of many talents my absolute favorite of all time is his humor and intelligence. He is very well read about almost any topic you pick but it must be very relevant and important, not useless information. Brendan and I were partners in crime in high school and college and I don't regret a minute of it. Brendan is the father of two amazing young men, my nephews for which I am busting with pride. Jack is now heading towards the end of his college career at UTAustin and Jack is ending his Freshman year at Belmont in Nashville, TN.
