The couple met in 2017 when Shannon had started as an RN on the same unit as Jay was working as a nursing assistant. The two became friendly coworkers but unfortunately did not see much of each other over the next few years due to different schedules/life/etc. Fast forward to 2019, Shannon found herself with a new nurse she was assigned to train- Jay Otis. Soon enough, gatherings with coworkers turned in to just the two of them. After a few months of spending all of their free time together, Shannon asked Jay "so am I your girlfriend or what?" And here we are. Coincidentally, they became "official" on June 1, 2020. Who knew 4 years later would be their wedding day!
The couple had just returned to Vermont after their first travel nursing contract. Shannon had noticed Jay was acting weird and giddy and had her suspicions that something was in the works. When Jay suggested a sunset hike, Shannon thought this had to be it. Turns out mother nature had a different plan and decided to cover the entire summit view with clouds, wind and rain. Shannon thought maybe it was all in her head; meanwhile, Jay decided to move to plan B. The next day Jay suggested they go down to the Burlington waterfront since it was finally a beautiful, sunny day. It was there that he got down on one knee and popped the question. The festivities continued after the proposal when Jay surprised Shannon with friends and family for celebrations. Despite being "plan B", everything turned out perfectly.
