We're getting married!

We had our first date at a Mexican restaurant in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver. It was a chilly October evening in 2021. We connected using an online dating app, OkCupid. We quickly learned that our dating intentions, life goals and values were serendipitously aligned. Shrimp tacos and margaritas turned into sharing a late night Nutella croissant at a nearby cafe...and well, the rest is history! We've since shared many Colorado adventures together, and explored our mutual passion for travel. We moved in together in June 2023 (along with our fur baby Clementine) and currently live in Littleton, CO. On Thanksgiving Eve 2023, Jake proposed with the backdrop of a beautiful lake at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. We were out to dinner with his parents. Jake proposed with a unique Adams family heirloom ring dating from the 1920's, which belonged to his Great Aunt. Shortly after, we were able to celebrate this exciting milestone with both of our families in New York and Colorado over the holidays. This meant the world to us! Our wedding plans reflect many of our shared values - family, travel and quality time to name a few! We have decided to get married at The Excellence Riviera Cancun in Mexico on October 23rd, 2024. Cancun is a special place to us, as we travelled here for the first time together after a few short months of dating. Looking back, this decision reflects our natural trust for each other as well as adventurous spirits! The gorgeous oceanside scenery, delicious food and inviting culture allowed us to fall deeper in love and create unique memories as a couple. Our immediate families live in two different states - Jake's in Colorado and Shannon's in New York. Jake's brother is currently serving in the army in Belgium. As our geographic locations are widespread, we have decided to have a very intimate wedding with our parents and siblings. Dedicating time to building immediate family relationships is special to us, as well as being able to devote mindful attention to each other on our wedding day. That being said, we also deeply value our extended families and friendships. We have both developed strong connections over the years, each having resided in several states as young adults. Our relationships span from coast to coast! We are so grateful for the quality time we have been able to share with our extended family and friends since November 2023, including engagement parties in both Rochester and Missouri, a bridal shower in Rochester and special celebrations with close friends in Colorado. We have made so many amazing memories that we will cherish for a lifetime! Thank you for your love and support as we pursued celebrations that felt authentic and meaningful to the two of us. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by loved ones near and far. We are so excited to embrace this next chapter of life, with each other and our phenomenal support system.
