Our Story

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Ours began over countless cups of coffee. For years, Shannon visited the same Starbucks where Isaac was a shift manager. We exchanged friendly conversations across the counter, never realizing something special was quietly unfolding. (Although Shannon’s best friend, Brooke, insists she knew all along—apparently Shannon twirled her foot every time Isaac took her order! Shannon didn’t notice… but Brooke certainly did.) In 2021, Isaac finally worked up the courage to ask Shannon for her phone number and email, using the excuse that he wanted more information about a property she had listed while she was working as a real estate agent. To everyone else, it looked completely innocent. Shannon knew exactly what he was doing. (He wasn’t nearly as smooth as he thought he was… and she absolutely loved it.) What followed wasn’t one defining moment, but a collection of little ones. Long conversations that never seemed to end. Learning about Isaac’s fantasy novel, complete with its own history and even an original language. Discovering a shared love for good food, music, and spending time together. One evening, while we were sitting on the floor playing chess, listening to music, and sharing a couple bottles of wine, Isaac casually picked up Shannon’s foot and started giving her a massage. It was unexpected, thoughtful, and somehow perfectly captured the kind of man he is. A couple of months later, Shannon planned a birthday getaway to a cozy cabin in the woods for Isaac. We cooked incredible meals, explored nature, built fires, and realized just how easy life felt together. Somewhere between chopping firewood, cooking over an open fire, and simply enjoying each other’s company, we knew we had found something worth choosing. In 2025, Isaac planned the perfect proposal. Knowing Shannon had always dreamed of seeing Paul Simon perform live, he planned an entire day around the concert, beginning with a quiet coastal hike overlooking the Pacific. At the edge of the cliff, with Shannon’s grandmother’s wedding ring in hand, he asked her to marry him. Somewhere in all the happy tears and excitement, Shannon accidentally hit “record” instead of taking a picture—capturing one of our favorite memories forever. Looking back, our story has never been defined by one extraordinary moment. It’s been written through thousands of ordinary ones—cups of coffee, shared meals, thoughtful conversations, bowls of popcorn, quiet adventures, and choosing one another every single day. We found extraordinary love by paying attention to ordinary moments, and we can’t wait to continue writing our story together. Thank you for celebrating this chapter with us.
