1. If your passport will expire within six months, airlines may not let you board your onward flight to Europe. PLEASE check your passport and renew as needed. 2. As of 2026, those traveling from the US may require a visa (ETIAS) for Europe. Supposedly, it takes a few minutes, is quickly approved, and will cost $8. HOWEVER, it seems like this is now projected to begin October 2026, so if you are staying in Europe for an extended trip, this is something to keep in mind. 3. We highly recommend getting TSA Precheck AND Global Entry in advance of the trip. The best option for exploring Tuscany is to rent a car! While it may seem intimidating to drive in a foreign country, Dan drove throughout Tuscany with no problems when we visited in October. Volterra is a pretty secluded small city, that does not have a direct train from Florence. The bigger cities can be a bit more hectic, but the public transportation in cities is robust. So, you likely won't need a car in Rome, Florence, or any of the other large cities. We recommend an automatic car unless you are an absolute expert with manual, as there are steep inclines. We also recommend against electric cars, as charging stations may be infrequent in more rural areas.
Yes! We will coordinate transportation to and from your accommodations for the 3 days of events, and from the airport as well as needed for those not renting a car. Please text or email us if you are not renting a car and would like transportation coordinated from the airport.
The only requirement is to get an International Drivers Permit which can be obtained through AAA very easily: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html
