(Future) Sister (in law) and Officiant
Becky is Hannah's older sister, and fills all of the older sister duties! She was the first person to show Hannah what unconditional love means, how to be a good friend and partner, and how to really have someone's back. She adopted Shannon as a Brother in Law a long time ago and we are so excited for her to be the one who makes it official in October! She lives in New Orleans and works at an ed-tech start-up.
(Future) Brother (in law)
The only person with the ability to steal Shannon away from Hannah... with the promise of a live-in math-themed ice-cream truck where Shannon and Ciaran could talk about abstract math and hand theorems out to unsuspecting children. Ciaran has started fine tuning the craft of mead making and Shannon and Hannah are lucky to be taste testers! He is currently getting his PhD in Abstract Mathematics at Texas A&M.
(Future) Brother (in law)
Shannon's Day 1... Literally. Connor is Shannon's older brother / previous roommate and was the first member of Shannon's family to meet Hannah. Despite his dislike of her love for fish, he accepted her with open arms. Shannon, Hannah, and Connor have spent more days than they can count playing pool, drinking beer, practicing ping pong, and sucking at golf. Connor lives in Decatur and just had a baby boy, Killian!
(Future) Sister (in law)
Dagem is Shannon's youngest sister, and the youngest, coolest, person Shannon and Hannah know. Shannon, Hannah, and Dagem make the best trio in the kitchen - some of our favorite things we have cooked together include sundried tomato and spinach ravioli, waffles, and chicken tikka masala. We are glad we have Dagem around to keep us young! Dagem lives in Atlanta and will be continuing college at Georgia State in the fall.
(Future) Sister in law
Kim, married to Connor, started as Shannon's number 1 Science competitor at Paideia. Since then she has become the best Atlanta United fan, Orange Theory buddy, Sushi cooking motivator, and cute content sharer we could have hoped for. She just became a mom of the cutest baby boy, Killian! Kim is a Biology teacher at Decatur High. Here's to many many more cabin weekends, cooking nights, and dinners out in the future!
(Future) Sister (In law)
Liza is Hannah's little sister. Despite being the baby of the Smith Family, Liza has the best advice and always knows exactly what to say. If you are ever planning a trip to New Orleans you have to reach out to Liza first - she knows all of the best restaurants and what to order where! Here is to hoping this is one of Liza's many trips to ATL over the next few years. Liza currently lives in Scott, LA and works for the LA dept. of public health.
(Future) Sister (in law)
Yenatfanta is Shannon's younger sister and most adept juggling buddy. Yen is the best photographer we know, get ready to see her in action during the wedding weekend! She is also the dog trainer that we all need. Shannon and Hannah are looking forward to hiring Yen when they get their first puppy! Yenat is living in Atlanta and will be working as a pre-school assistant once everyone is vaccinated.
Father of the Bride
Hannah's Dad and Day 1 adventure buddy. In a lot of ways, Hannah was the son Craig never had and her fondest memories are of playing catch in the front yard, washing cars together, and flying kites on the beach. Though as adults they also had their fair share of fun (cough VEGAS cough). Here's to many Craig-McMuffins in our futures! Craig retired in June (yay!) and is setting off on an RV adventure across the US.
Mother of the Groom
Jodi played a very significant role in the process of creating Shannon - something we are all so grateful for! If you ever need your day to be brighter the first person you should find is Jodi. She fills us all up with sweets and bagels like any good Jewish Mom (here's a teaser - you all will get to sample her abilities at Brunch and with our wedding cake!). She is our favorite tennis instructor and just moved to Tucker, GA.
Father of the Groom
Patrick played the other very important role that was needed to create the gift that is Shannon. Helping Shannon develop an interest for soccer and mathematics at a young age, and how to do maintenance on his car when he got older. Patrick will always help you find the answer to tough questions, such as the strength of the sun. He has the best advice and knows how to do just about anything you can think of.

Alex and Shannon met in junior high and have been friends since. They developed their taste for craft beer together, learned to ride longboards and even started a beer review podcast. They also created great memories hiking through the Appalachian mountains. Now Alex teaches English and lives in Vietnam, creating a great excuse for travelling to Asia and riding motorcycles through the mountains. We are crossing our fingers and toes that at some point in the future we will live in the same city as Alex again.
Friend
Amanda was Hannah's first friend at Emory. They bonded together in the back of XC vans, late night at the DUC, and on very slow Sunday AM runs and have had a number of adventures together since (flavor tripping, hiking, camping). Amanda is one of those rare people that Hannah so immediately and easily clicked (and continues to click!) with. Amanda finished med school at Dartmouth and is starting residency at Cedars-Sinai in LA. Keegan, we can't wait to meet you!
Friend
Hannah met Ashley at Bain and immediately knew they would be friends for life. Ashley is one of those people who just makes you happy when you are around her and George quickly became Shannon's Bain party companion and safe space. Both Ashley and George played varsity soccer for Davidson, and are currently living in NC where Ashley is an MBA student at Fuqua, and George is working remotely at CoinDesk researching bitcoin and other digital currencies.
Friend
Shannon and Austin met on the soccer field during freshman year of high school. Since then, they have gone on many trips together including backpacking, chopping down trees, and saltwater fly fishing. Austin is a great influence who encourages Shannon to have more fun and be open to new experiences. Austin helped Shannon catch his first fish at Duke's creek, and now spends his time leading other aspiring anglers across the globe in pursuit of their big fish dreams. #KaniakExpeditions.

Some things come on thick and fast in the absolute best of ways. No better way to describe our friendship with Mathew and Carter. Mathew and Hannah met at Bain 4 years ago but true love blossomed when Mathew saw (and ran his fingers through) Shannon's long, blonde, curly locks. Fast forward to June of this year. The Ob-uckleys (soon to be written in stone!) are a force to be reckoned with. From stories of crazy children (Carter is a 'secit gad' teacher), to Braves games, to crafts & cocktails, to lots of Mexican food, it was all meant to be.
Friend
Connor and Shannon met in high school. They founded their first business together, servicing the yards of Atlanta residents and helping friends fund their weekend activities. Now he lives in Montana and gives friends great tours of Yellowstone National Park while helping them find fish and avoid bears. He's the best camping buddy and some might say the best fishing guide. We are glad he has met Jenny and are excited to get to know her better.
Friend
Danna single handedly made moving to Evanston, IL a worthwhile decision. Danna and Shannah bonded in Bulgaria in gothic attire and have built so many memories together. As the academically minded half of the group, Anna and Shannon expand the group's knowledge of worthwhile pursuits (making better coffee, creating AI models, etc.), while Dan and Hannah promote soft skills, such as how to make friends with coworkers. Anna is a data scientist and Dan will be working to save the world from Covid at Pfizer.
Friend
Daniel and Shannon have known each other and been friends since elementary school originally bonding over a passion for soccer. Daniel introduced Shannon to Air Force Ones, car stereo systems, good music and craft beer. Daniel is always up for a good time, making bagels at our apartment, going to ATL UTD games, and playing tennis. We are happy he has found Brittany, and look forward to getting to know her.
Friend
Ellie was Hannah's mom's favorite daughter from another mother. Bring out the fact checker... Hannah and Ellie probably met when they were 5 years old in Ballet class but became hardcore buddies in middle-school - where hardcore buddies are needed most! Ellie's friendship makes growing up in Pittsfield all worth it. Ellie is the most down to earth vegan you will ever meet, and is currently living in Charleston, NC. We can't wait to welcome Ellie back to Atlanta!
Friend
Hannah and Hannah were appropriately re-branded as "The Hannahs" by Emory's Track and Field team. HP was just the friend HSmith needed at many times in life, encouraging late night Maggie's runs and post-meet celebrations, being the Johnny's dancing partner we all need, and always there to pick up the phone from afar. Hannah and Ben are currently living in Boston, but we are SO EXCITED that they are moving to Atlanta this fall and can't wait to explore the city together.
Friend
Hannah's long run track buddy turned life-long friend. Its amazing what struggling through bench pressing can do for a friendship. Mia was the first of Hannah's friends to say "I LOVE SHANNON" and has repeated that sentiment a number of times since. The best perk of Shannon and Hannah's move to Chicago was being closer to Mia. Mia is now living in Breckenridge, CO, where she works as a Workday consultant, and we can't wait to visit her during ski-season next winter.
