We've Tied the Knot, Help Us Tighten It!

In September of 2014, Shannon and her parents excitedly turned the key to her new apartment to find George sitting on a bar stool in her new kitchen! As it turns out, George was a friend of Shannon's roommate and lived in the same building. He had just dropped in to visit, and left shortly after Shannon and her family arrived. One week later, George came by to visit Shannon's roommate again while Shannon was avidly reading Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. George sat next to her and started reciting lines from the play to her by memory. Shannon knew then that this could really turn into something. A few days later, George asked her on a date to her favorite Chicago coffee shop, the Bourgeois Pig, and the rest is history!

Shannon was slightly bummed that work commitments made it impossible to travel to her family's beloved lakeside cottage for Labor Day Weekend, so George and Shannon planned a nature-y date day instead! They started with mini-donuts (a mutual love of theirs), and headed to Percy Priest Lake for some hiking. After a few hours of hiking and a BLT picnic, they sat by the water, talked and relaxed. When Shannon got up to leave, George said "Wait. Just one more thing before we go..." Turning around and seeing him on one knee, Shannon started screaming "Yes! Yes! Yes!" and jumping up and down. Then, true to form, she said "Wait. You didn't actually say it. Are you asking me--" "I'm asking you to marry me" he said. And, of course, she said YES!
