The night they met in April 2013, Shannon and Sebastian both attended a friend's birthday dinner but were at opposite sides of a long table at Cuba Libre and didn't have a chance to talk. Sebastian noticed Shannon and approached her afterwards to ask if she was going out with the group, but when she explained that she had to be up early for work the next day and had to go home, he said "okay, have a good night" and that was that. Fortunately, they would get a second chance to meet in May. Soon after graduation, another mutual friend hosted her going away party at the World of Beer near campus. Sebastian was there chatting with a friend, Sam, when he noticed Shannon approaching them. Sam didn't get much attention after that. After chatting for awhile, Sebastian wanted to say something that would really knock her socks off and grab her interest. So, naturally, he began telling her this fascinating story from when he was a baby: "did you know that when you're a baby, you shouldn't be laid on your back too long, or it'll flatten out - crazy, right? That happened to me! Do you want to touch my head?" At this point, Shannon totally could have ran away, but instead she laughed and touched his head, agreeing that she felt the difference between the rounder side and the flatter side. And that was when we knew that we were the same kind of weird ❤️
