It all began in November 2015. After the Sheboygan Hmong New Year, Shannen was scrolling through Facebook when one photo stopped her, a group photo, but one face stood out. Paris caught her eye, and she couldn’t look away. She asked around, and found his name. She sent the friend request, but Paris sent the first message. From that first hello, conversations flowed and words exchanged, slowly weaving a connection neither of us expected. Weeks later, the Milwaukee Hmong New Year brought us to the same place at the same time. If there was a chance, we said, we would meet. That day became our first meeting. After that moment, we continued choosing each other. We talked, we learned, we grew. Six months later, Paris asked Shannen to be his girlfriend. Ten years have passed and what began with a single photo became a lifetime in the making.
