From Shipmates to true Soulmates. Shanita and Raffeal met and became friends onboard the Nimitz Class Carrier, USS George Washington (CVN73) in September of 2017. Over the next few months their friendship would grow closer, but it would be God and a snowstorm in Hampton, VA that would spark a love filled relationship. In need of help, she called on Raffeal to shovel her car out of the snow. Over a six month time span, the two would go on dates, having fun enjoying each other's companionship and love for one another. But as with all relationships, theirs would be tested. In June of 2018 Raffeal relocated 2,818 miles away to San Diego, Ca; over the next few years their relationship would be tested by distance, 3-hour time zone difference, and the inability to physically see and be with each other daily. Through their faith in God, prayer, daily scripture reading and Technology, their relationship survived the miles between them because they are worth it. Their true love for each other grew stronger regardless of the uncontrollable circumstances they were faced with, being in a long-distance relationship while also living through COVID-19 a worldwide pandemic in 2020. Because of their trust in God, patience, and faithfulness towards each other; Raffeal asked for Shanita’s hand in marriage on November 21st, 2020 surrounded by close friends and family. It is safe to say that Shanita and Raffeal’s trust in the Lord with all their heart, allowed them to lean on the Lords understanding because prosperity in their relationship is possible through Christ who gives them strength; the foundation of their relationship is built on Gods promise. So, as they continue their journey, let them no longer be two, but one flesh, never separating what God has joined together.
