Lawrence and I initially met 7 years ago when I was in training at Capital One and he was floor walker. When I met him, I said “You Lydia cousin?” He replied, “Yupp”. After that, we became friends. He worked on day shift and I worked on the evening shift, but every time we would see each other we would talk and catch up on life. Little did I know, he was checking me out the whole time! (Just kidding LOL) Fast forward five years, we both still work at Capital One, Lawrence had a meeting in my building. He wrote me asked if I was at work and after his meeting, we met up. We talked but this talk was a little different than usual. Lawrence talked about how he was single and at home by himself. At this time, it was just me and Amari, so we decided we would hang out sometimes. I walked away from that conversation like, “Lawrence was def spitting game” About 3 weeks later, we planned to go to brunch. We went to brunch and from that point started hanging out a lot more. On June 22, 2019, Lawrence and I had our first “kid free” date. We went to VA beach with Pooby, Chris, Laz, and Sadie. That night when I dropped him off, he went in for a kiss. (LOL) That was my confirmation that we were indeed “talking”. Everything from that point is history!

The proposal took place on April 3, 2021 at our baby shower! We had talked about marriage and I got my finger sized in November. So 5 months later it wasn’t really on my mind. The main thing that was on my mind was preparing for a new baby! LOL! I was talking to some friends when my sister (Tasha) and his cousin (Lydia) told me to come “thank everyone for coming”. I looked at them and said “that can’t wait til the end?” They said “girl come on!” So I went to the front of the baby shower and thanked everyone for coming. Lawrence then thanked everyone for coming and said “There’s one more thing that would complete me.” 4eva by Lil Mo started playing in the background and I knew what it was from there! (I had always joked around and told him that when we get married that will be our wedding song). He got down on his knee, said some very kind words (LOL I don’t remember them word for word), then asked me to marry him! Of course, I SAID YESSSS!
