Our Story

Eric and I met in high school through a classmate of ours my freshmen year. It was during the first couple of months of high school, our classmate came into my science class stating "I had to meet her big brother Eric." She grabbed me out of my seat and rushed me outside to meet him, when we stepped outside of the classroom, Eric was coming up the stairs with his best friend Tevin. He walked up to us and said "Hey, what's up?" In that moment it seemed like everything had stopped around us and all I could manage to say was "Hi." I was immediately in love with him, even though I was 14 and a freshmen in high school, I knew I loved him. Eventually, Eric and I became close friends throughout our years of high school, until he inquired about me to his close friend Tevin. One day, Tevin came to the high school and informed me "my man" asked about me, unknown to me it was Eric. I blushed and told Tevin "No way," he responded and said "Yes sis, he was wondering what's up with you?" Tevin automatically gave me Eric number and from there we talked every night "caking." Eventually he came to visit me along with his bestie before I had practice and we talked, laughed, listen to each other stories, and it was unreal how we looked into each other eyes and knew we were made for each other in that moment. Later that week, he asked me out on 01/22/2011; we've grown into the man and woman we were meant to be not only for ourselves, but for each other too. We are thankful and give our praise to God for allowing us to grow with each other and to be in love so young.

The Proposal

02/14/2021

The day Eric and I became engaged will always be sketched in my long term memory bank, as it should be. Eric had his internship that day, but he made sure to make this day memorable. He planned everything accordingly, even though it was raining and cold, he still had it under total control. He mentioned to me that day we were going to go to our best friend house to visit her and the family, however he had to do a pit stop somewhere before we went there. I told him, "Okay." On our way to our friends house, he blindfolded me and told me to not peak at all and do I trust him, of course I responded, "Duh babe, of course I trust you." From there he guided me into his truck, and he drove all around town until 11:59pm on 02/13/2021, eventually we came to a stop and he helped me out of the truck. I opened my eyes and realized we were at our old high school again, I looked at him confused and noticed he had on his Harlem Globetrotter jersey, the same outfit I first met him in. He grabbed my hand and told me these words: "Shanisha you know I love you, and there is really no other woman I would rather love than you. You've been patient with me and always showed me unconditional love regardless of anything. You've supported me through all the ups and downs life has thrown, and I would have not wanted no other way." I responded, "Aw babes, of course." He finished saying, "Ten years ago, we walked these hallways clueless that we would end up together, on top of that spending all these years together," he pulled out the Zales box and proceeded to get on one knee, asking me, "Shanisha, will you marry me and continue spending more years with me to come?" If you know me, you know I started to cry when I seen the Zales box, of course I said, "YES!!" We were engaged 12:05 am on Valentine's Day 02/14/2021. We cannot wait to share the rest of our love story, journey of engagement and marriage with our family and friends.
