At the height of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, who would've thought two people would be courageous enough to search for love at a time that felt like the end of the world. I (Shanika) had been at the end of my rope with dating and decided to take a chance. Similarly, I (Einstein) decided to take a leap of faith despite my reservations. With a desire for deep connection, love, and companionship, we created our Match.com profiles and we matched (pun intended). We went on our first date in New Haven, CT and met up at De Legna at NOLO in the summer of 2020 after weeks of video chat. It was a beautiful June day, the sky brilliant, the sun bright, and the weather just right. We spoke over good pizza and drinks, but that wasn't enough. We decided to go for an afternoon stroll at East Shore Park where we shared deep/intimate conversation and good laughs. Still, that was not enough. We ended the night with ice cream at Jennifer's Ice Cream. I (Shanika) was consumed by emotions and with "peace" and "safety" being at the forefront. It seemed natural and like I (Shanika) had known him for years. I (Einstein) felt that it was the start of something truly special. We both departed that night with a flood of positive feels. I (Shanika) had left the date with certainty that this was love. I (Einstein) called an old friend to express gratitude for putting himself back out there. Legend be told, Einstein whistled through the entire house when he got back home to Jersey City. Flash forward to 4 years later and a wedding date set in stone and we are beyond thrilled that we aren't going through this life alone. God has truly blessed us with true love, companionship, and a forever friend. #InItToWinIt
